The Starting Point
The Malaysian government is seeking to increase the uptake of renewable energy national electricity mix. Being a market leader in its field, Alcon is committed to playing its part and is looking for solutions to contribute to the generation of clean energy.
The Result
Alcon signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Cleantech Solar in Malaysia for a 3.6 MW solar PV system. This project will enable the production of clean energy whilst helping Alcon reduce operating costs, without requiring any capital investment. Over 8,000 solar modules are fitted across the entire rooftop and the solar power plant is expected to generate over 4,000 MWh of clean energy per annum, which is equivalent to avoiding 2,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
