The Starting Point

Kerry’s India team was seeking ways to control cost of power at its Haryana based plant and looking for ways to take make an impactful statement on internal sustainability initiatives. Generating solar power by utilizing vacant roof spaces seemed to be a great solution; however, executing and investing in the project in-house would have resulted in taking away resources and capital from core functions.

The Result

Cleantech was able to present the solution for going solar that provided Kerry all benefits they valued but without either having to take attention and capital away from core functions or take any technology and operational risks. Parties entered into a long term power purchase agreement where Cleantech would invest, own, operate and maintain the solar plant on the roof of Kerry’s manufacturing facility and sell power to Kerry at substantial savings to the grid. A state of the art plant was commissioned and inaugurated by Kerry and Cleantech’s senior management on September 5, 2016.
