No you don’t. Cleantech Solar will invest the capital in the project.
Your questions answered
The agreement is based on the customer paying for the kWh that the system generates. If the systems generate less kWh or none at all, you will pay less or nothing at all.
With no money upfront and reduced electricity bill, it sounds too good to be true, what's the catch?
There is no “catch”. The whole concept is based on bringing together capital that is looking for long-term, steady and predictable returns and companies like yours that want to reduce their OPEX but prefer to invest their own cash in faster-return, core business processes.
No we don’t. We source panels from first-class manufacturers only.
No you don’t. Our agreements do not depend on government support mechanisms but if there is any benefit that can be gained from programmes like net metering or feed-in-tariffs, we will explain that and work it out with you.
In most cases, roof modifications are not required. We will assess your roof and, when confirmed suitable, will make all the arrangements ourselves.
The standard term for our agreements is 20 years but it can be advantageous to run until 25 years.
Normally, customers prefer to have a fixed rate with mutually agreeable escalation factor. This acts as a hedge to grid price fluctuation. Different pricing structures exist and are also available if required.
Nothing. In effect, all that will happen is that your roof will get an additional layer and will be more protected from the elements.
It is highly unlikely that the roof will be damaged and we only work with accredited installers to prevent that happening. On top of that, Cleantech Solar has insurance in place so that any unlikely damage to the roof during installation will be repaired at no cost to you.
We design systems to last beyond 25 years.
No you don’t. Cleantech Solar will arrange for operation, maintenance and cleaning as required at no additional cost.
Solar systems do not weigh much and usually this is not an issue. In all cases, Cleantech’s Team will ask you for the technical information about your roof structure in order to make an assessment.
Absolutely not. Cleantech Solar is responsible for ensuring the system performance.
We will install a meter at the “injection point” where the power generated form the system will be injected into your electrical system. The data from that meter will be accessible and shared with you and will form the basis of the monthly invoice.
Solar panels can be removed if some roof inspection/maintenance is required in various areas of the roof.
In countries where blackouts are frequent, most customers have sizeable backup power options typically in the form of Diesel gensets. In those cases we will design the system such that as soon as the backup power is turned on, the solar plant will resume generating power. We will walk through the technical aspects with your teams during our system development stage.
Cleantech Solar will insure the rooftop system against these type of risks by means of insurance.
In most cases, Cleantech Solar will own the system at the term of the agreement and a purchase can then be agreed at the fair market value but alternative arrangements can be agreed.
If you sell your building and move on, there are a few different options. The preferred option is for the agreement to be transferred to the new tenant. There are other alternatives in the rare occasions where the new tenant does not want to pay less for their power.
Most customers prefer to have the solar system managed and maintained by a solar expert. In fact, we have a few cases where customers who bought the system are now asking us to take it over as a PPA. Having said that, we do structure buy-out clauses for the customer to acquire the system at different stages.
