Dr. André Nobre presents his research paper on ‘Ongoing performance assessment strategies & operational challenges when managing hundreds of distributed photovoltaic assets across Asia’ at the prestigious IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference 2022 in Philadelphia, USA

Singapore, 10 June 2022: Cleantech Solar congratulates Dr. André Nobre, our Vice President – Asset Management & Performance, who presented his important paper yesterday on ‘Ongoing performance assessment strategies & operational challenges when managing hundreds of distributed photovoltaic assets across Asia’ at IEEE’s Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC) 2022. Held from 5th-10th June in Philadelphia, USA, this is the 49th edition of the conference, which is the world’s longest-running technical gathering for the photovoltaic (PV) industry. For 60 years, PVSC has been the premier scientific and technical conference focused on all areas of photovoltaics from fundamental science to commercial applications and, increasingly, to deployment, policy, and resources.

In keeping with Cleantech Solar’s diversified portfolio across geographies, Dr. Nobre’s paper focuses on determining how best to gauge performance ratios of PV systems in a highly distributed setting given the availability and boundary conditions of irradiation sources and analysing the manner in which assets have concurrently performed in such a diversified portfolio. Key loss factors for the portfolio behaviour across one year were identified and studied in the work, namely “advanced soiling impact”, “extraordinary shading conditions” and “high curtailment levels”.

Dr. Nobre has been at the forefront of academic and practical research on the behaviour of PV systems in Asia, and this paper adds to his research on several areas critical to understanding performance of PV systems in these geographies. You can read more about his previous research work here:

  • On the thermal behaviour of floating photovoltaic installations
  • On the impact of COVID-19 related measures on the solar resource in areas with high levels of air pollution
  • On understanding operating conditions of PV systems in Asia

Our unwavering focus on research and innovation, along with the commitment to deliver high-performing PV systems for our clients makes Cleantech Solar the trusted solar partner for corporates across the region.
