Rayong, Thailand, 16 March 2023: Cleantech Solar, a leading provider of renewable energy solutions to corporations in Southeast Asia and India, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Robert Bosch Automotive Technologies (Thailand) Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Germany-based Bosch Group, to develop a 740 kWp solar PV system at Bosch’s first SMART factory in Thailand, located in Hemaraj in the Eastern Economic Corridor. This is the third phase of the solar PV project that Cleantech Solar is developing for the automotive giant, with the first two phases running successfully since 2020 and 2021 respectively. This new phase takes the total system size to 2 MWp.
The long-term solar partnership between Cleantech Solar and Bosch is expected to generate approximately 47 GWh of clean energy during the lifetime of the project, leading to a reduction of nearly 25 kilotonnes of CO2 emissions. Cleantech Solar is the turnkey solar energy provider and has financed, designed, built, and will be operating and maintaining the project throughout the term of the agreement.
Mr. Martin Knoss, Regional President ASEAN of Bosch Powertrain Solutions, noted: “Bosch Thailand is already operating 100% on solar electricity, either out of our own solar source or purchased as solar energy from the grid. With this further extension of our solar rooftop area, we can rely even more on own sources. The project with Cleantech Solar is one of our lighthouse activities and it has always been a pleasure to work with Cleantech as a very reliable partner.”
Mr. Raju Shukla, Founder and CEO of Cleantech Solar, said: “We’re very happy to strengthen our solar partnership with the Bosch Group in Thailand. It is an honour to be chosen again as the partner of choice by the automotive multinational. This project is a testament to Bosch’s commitment to reduce their carbon footprint, making sustainable manufacturing their motto. Cleantech Solar is focused on providing the world’s top corporates with high-quality, reliable and cost-effective renewable energy, helping them achieve their net zero ambitions whist significantly lowering energy costs.”
