Singapore, 13 December 2022: Cleantech Solar, a leading provider of renewable energy solutions to corporations in Southeast Asia and India, announces the commissioning of a new energy system for a marine industry service provider client on 7 December in Loyang Industrial Estate, Singapore, consisting of a 300 kWp solar photovoltaic (PV) installation, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Electric Vehicle Charging System (EVCS). This is Cleantech Solar’s first pilot 3-in-1 project integrating an EV Charging System and ESS with solar PV, where the developer provides full turnkey financing, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of the PV + BESS + EVCS under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
In preparation for this project, Cleantech Solar deployed a meteorological station at the site to study and compare weather trends at this site with other Cleantech Solar assets in Singapore. This included data from distributed stations across 37 petrol stations in Singapore and several C&I clients, which enabled the company to capture irradiance variations for more accurate modelling of this project.
The solar PV system is expected to generate more than 9 GWh of clean energy during the asset’s lifetime, amounting to a reduction of over 3,800 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The clean solar energy will contribute to the client’s corporate mission focusing on sustainability and a clean planet by way of reducing their carbon footprint and ultimately achieving climate-neutral operations by 2040.
In addition, Cleantech Solar has deployed a Battery Energy Storage System of 19 kWh based on lithium-ion phosphate technology. The BESS will augment the solar system by storing energy during periods of excess PV generation and release energy during periods of high electricity consumption. This will allow Cleantech Solar to further study the local Singapore market power prices and perform arbitrage at optimum periods of the day.
Cleantech Solar has also made this system EV charger-ready, installing all the necessary peripherals for the EV charging stations, catering to 3 x 22kW EV chargers for the client’s upcoming EV fleet.
Mr. Raju Shukla, Founder and CEO of Cleantech Solar, said: “This project marks our foray into energy storage and is our pilot project encompassing solar + storage + EV charging capability. We are honoured to partner with some of the world’s top corporates, helping them achieve their sustainability goals. This solar + storage + EV Charging System will provide significant savings on the cost of electricity and reduced emissions ensuring reliable power supply by way of the latest and best-in-class resilient energy infrastructure. My congratulations on the successful commissioning!”
